Sidney, N.Y. April 2009 – Amphenol Industrial, a global leader in interconnect systems, now offers compact explosion-proof threaded connectors specifically designed to allow a signal to pass through Zone 1 rated areas using coax and fiber optic cables as well as standard copper. The small size of the new Amphe-EX connectors allow for small gauge wire from 12 AWG to 28 AWG and requires less space and installation time.

The new Amphe-EX series is ideal for use in signal control and power generation as found in wind energy production applications, various manufacturing processes as well as oil and gas exploration.

The scratch-resistant, anodic hardcoat plated hardware improves heat resistance and dielectric strength over standard plating. The Amphe-EX connectors are ATEX and IEC approved for Zone 1 rated applications, such as the tough conditions of a wind farm.

The explosion-proof status of the connectors enhances their ability to perform in the harshest conditions with the consistent reliability seen in all Amphenol products. The Amphe-EX is flameproof compliant to EN 60079-0 and EN 60079-1, is available in five shell sizes and comes in 50 insert patterns.

Pricing for a mated pair starts at $200 in quantities of 500. Delivery is 10 weeks ARO.
