Wixom, October 6, 2009: All dSPACE MicroAutoBoxes now provide even more performance for prototyping electronic control unit (ECU) functions – especially with large real-time models.
The performance boost comes from the IBM PPC 750GL processor, which reaches considerably faster cycle times for model calculation because of its doubled Level2 cache (1 MB). This enables the MicroAutoBox to calculate the control model 1.6 to 2.5 times faster, depending on the specific application, model size, and model structure.
The SRAM memory of all MicroAutoBoxes was doubled from 8 MB to 16 MB, allowing larger models to be loaded from dSPACE Release 6.4 onward. Existing models can continue in use unmodified, and existing executables can be loaded and executed directly.
dSPACE MicroAutoBox in Brief
MicroAutoBox is a compact real-time system for performing fast function prototyping in fullpass and bypass scenarios. MicroAutoBox can be used for many different rapid control prototyping applications, for example, vehicle dynamics, powertrains, body control, x-by-wire applications, and aerospace applications.
The MATLAB®/Simulink®/Stateflow® modeling tools are seamlessly integrated into the dSPACE prototyping environment. And with dSPACE’s software Real-Time Interface (RTI), the connection between dSPACE hardware and the modeling tool, developers can implement their Simulink® models on the MicroAutoBox automatically without needing programming skills.
Facts about dSPACE
dSPACE develops and distributes tools for the development of electronic control units (ECUs) and mechatronic systems worldwide. Using dSPACE systems, manufacturers of controllers and ECUs are able to dramatically reduce their development times and costs, and systematically increase their productivity.
Whether the objective is an electronically controlled diesel injection or fuel cell vehicles, virtually all car manufacturers and many of their suppliers rely on dSPACE hardware and software in their current development projects. dSPACE tools are also used in aerospace, drives technology, medical technology, industrial automation, and other fields.
The company also provides comprehensive services from on-site user training to customer-specific system engineering such as turn-key HIL test systems.
dSPACE has more than 800 employees worldwide at its headquarters in Paderborn, in the Project Centers at Munich and Stuttgart, and also in the subsidiaries in France, the UK, Japan, the USA (Wixom, MI) and the Representative Office in China. In addition, numerous distributors provide customer support in other countries.
