Dust Networks wins global chemical engineering award for wireless innovation
2 years 4 months ago

California-based Dust Networks™ has won the Amec Award for Innovation and Excellence in SMEs from the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) at an awards ceremony in London.

Dust Networks, the leader in standards-based intelligent Wireless sensor networking (WSN), is the first company to develop a practical solution to remove barriers to reliable, battery-operated wireless sensor networking in harsh industrial manufacturing environments.

The company has been recognised for its innovation in wireless sensor networking and pioneering development of the Time Synchronized Mesh Protocol™ (TSMP). TSMP is a foundational building block of WirelessHART™, the processing industry's first standard for intelligent wireless sensor networking. Dust's standards-based WSN systems deliver wire-like reliability while offering the economics of wire-free sensor deployment in process monitoring and control applications.

The IChemE awards ceremony is designed to highlight cutting-edge innovation and excellence in chemical engineering and coincides with the Institution celebrating the 50th anniversary of receiving its Royal Charter status. The event was attended by over 400 chemical and process engineers and their guests at Londons Hilton Metropole hotel.

“Chemical and process engineers across a huge range of industry sectors are working hard to develop a cleaner, greener and more sustainable world for generations to come,” said David Brown, chief executive, Institution of Chemical Engineers. “Our awards, in this our 50th anniversary year, highlight some of the groundbreaking work that is going on across the globe in all types of organisations, from centres of academia, to SMEs and large global brands.”
