SkyeTek Announces Embedded and Networked RFID Educational Webinar Series
1 year 8 months ago

WESTMINSTER, Colo., May 27 -- SkyeTek, Inc., the leading provider of embedded RFID reader technology, today announced it has launched a series of free Webinars dedicated to all aspects of embedded RFID. SkyeTek will host a total of 12 Webinars in 2008 detailing the business cases and technological implications associated with designing and embedding secure RFID into existing solutions, such as handhelds, cabinets and containers.

SkyeTek has already hosted five Webinars so far this year with a total of more than 3,000 registrants and 1,200 attendees. During the most recent Webinar held on May 16th, Martin Payne, SkyeTek's vice president of marketing and strategy, discussed how embedded RFID enables printer manufacturers to address the pirating of cartridges through guaranteeing authentic toner cartridges. In a Webinar earlier in May, Payne used real-world examples of how companies are using RFID to enable new applications for disposable authentication and smart shelves and cabinets to drive revenue and competitive differentiation. The first Webinar of the year provided manufacturers with an overview of how embedded RFID can help them to control what disposables get placed in their products and to manage how those disposables are consumed.

Responding to SkyeTek poll questions, 46% of Webinar registrants have already, are in the process of, or are planning to design an RFID-enabled product. 16% said they have one or more RFID-enabled products already in production, and 40% said their companies are in the process of evaluating RFID, but have no plans to begin development. Respondents also said RFID Security is growing increasingly important to them.

"Companies today are always seeking innovative methods to increase productivity and revenues, and our Webinars provide an overview of the capabilities of embedded RFID to those with little or no knowledge of the technology," Payne said. "The poll numbers and questions from attendees we've received reflect a significant need for further education around RFID, which is why we feel these Webinars are important. At the same time, experienced RFID users attending the Webinars are gaining further understanding of how embedded RFID can help them improve their overall operations."

The next Webinars in the series will be held on June 5th at 11:00 AM EDT in conjunction with RFID Journal and on June 26th at 2:00 PM EDT in conjunction with Machine Design, Medical Design Technology, and Electronic Design. Both events will cover various aspects of embedding RFID into products from technical and environmental considerations to networking and tag selection. They will also include real-world case studies on how manufacturers are using RFID to bring uncommon features to their products.

In addition, recorded versions of SkyeTek's previous Webinars are freely available at www.skyetek.com/webinars/
