Telit Wireless Solutions, Inc., the US-based machine-to-machine (M2M) mobile technology ARM of Telit Communications PLC (AIM: TCM), announced that Trackn/Enfotrace, a leading provider of remote vehicle and asset tracking products, will begin incorporating Telits cellular M2M technology into their unique line of Location Based Service (LBS) applications in October 2008. The product is currently on display at CTIA IT & Entertainment 2008 at the Telit booth #1301.
Telits compact GE864-QUAD module, measuring only 30 x 30 x 2.9 mm and weighing only seven grams, was a perfect fit for Enfotraces thin, compact design similar in size to a credit card. The Telit module also offers proven reliability and durability, ideal for Enfotraces target industries of consumer and commercial vehicles, rental fleets, heavy machinery, boats and recreational vehicles.
“We upgraded to a Telit module, because it offers reliability, efficiency and a compact form-factor that is ideal for our tracking application,” said Bill Northrup of Trackn/Enfotrace. “Telits module also features QUAD-band functionally enabling us to expand our service offering and deploy internationally.”
The Enfotrace application utilizes the Telit module to establish a two-way flow of information via a digital cellular network, over which the device transmits safety alerts, vehicle diagnostics, starter disable, door lock control, data logging and messaging. Combined with GPS locator capabilities, Trackn/Enfotrace provides precise locations within 10 feet throughout North America and reports travel direction as well as geographic boundary crossings. Trackn/Enfotrace customers can remotely manage device functions and access vehicle data in real-time or on-demand remotely through a customizable website.
