Ariane Controls and Lumidim de Mexico have signed an agreement to develop and market an Automated Meter Reading System using technologies from both companies.
The System, to be released in 2008, will provide electric utility companies with several benefits over non-automated meter reading systems. These benefits include being able to read the meters remotely, automatic billing, remote disconnection of users, quick detection of electric faults in distribution systems, and finally, for the Latin American market, quick detection of users illegally connected to the distribution grid.
“This AMR System will be the first in the world to detect users illegally connected to the distribution grid, a common problem for Mexico and other Latin American countries” commented Dr. Raúl Quintero, Director of Lumidim de Mexico. “This system will help electric utility companies in Mexico and Latin America to stop this problem”.
