Mainz, Germany – August 2, 2011 SYSGO, a leading supplier of certifiable operating systems, announces the start of the two-year project SeSaM (Secure and Safe Microkernel) dedicated to the development and certification of high-assurance operating system components. As the only Common Criteria (CC) protection profile for micro-kernels has been developed and can only be applied in the US, SeSaM has been established to create a European foundation in the Multiple Independent Levels of Security (MILS) domain. SeSaM is another important example of SYSGO’s ability to offer solutions in the area of very high-level security.

SYSGO is announcing that its flagship RTOS (Real-Time Operating System) product PikeOS has been used in the definition of a Security Target and received approval from the French Network and Information Security Agency (ANSSI). This security label is a first achievement in the overall process of Common Criteria EAL certification initiated by SYSGO in 2007.

PikeOS is based on the SSV (Safe & Secure Virtualization[]) technology, which is certifiable according to safety standards such as DO178B, IEC61508, EN 50128 and ISO26262. The PikeOS awareness is included in all new releases of the TRACE32(r) software for PowerPC; other architectures will follow soon.

The certification process will be conducted in cooperation with the internationally recognized safety certification authority TÜV.
